PECHE ISLAND DETROIT RIVER CLASSIC

AUGUST 4, 2026

Founded by Commodore Ben Wixson in 2026, the Peche Island-Detroit River Classic has established itself as the premier standalone weeknight regatta on Lake St. Clair. Held on the Tuesday before GPSC and WYC resume their summer racing schedules following the Mackinac races, the event provides sailors from across the region with a distinctive mid-season race of its own.

Open to sailors from all clubs, the Peche Island-Detroit River Classic starts and finishes off Windmill Pointe and takes competitors around Peche Island through both U.S. and Canadian waters. The cross-border course showcases one of the region’s most iconic sailing corridors while offering a unique combination of Lake St. Clair and Detroit River racing.

Boats registered for either the GPSC Spring Sundown Series, Summer Sundown Series, or both receive complimentary entry to the event.
