MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
The Grosse Pointe Sail Club has members all over the United States, and membership opportunities are available to all sailing enthusiasts, not just boat owners and residents of the Grosse Pointes.
SAILING
The GPSC hosts a weekly race in the Spring, Summer, and Fall called the Sundown Series, where competitors from our club and neighboring clubs compete in sixteen races annually. The races start and finish at picturesque Windmill Pointe Park, where spectators have ample room to watch the excitement of racing starts and finishes.
Besides the Sundown Series, the club hosts a number of member-only races, which include the Lady Meggan Challenge, Operation Shanghai, and the Frostbite.
For decades the GPSC has hosted its annual regatta as part of the Detroit Regional Yacht-Racing Association’s (DRYA) counter series, where racers from all-over SE Michigan and Windsor race for yearly trophies.
Wanting to learn to sail? Let a Grosse Pointe Sail Club skipper “show you the ropes” in real weekly yacht-racing events!
BOATING
Even though “sail” is in our club name, our membership includes many power boating enthusiasts who not only support our weekly race events but also enjoy attending many special events by water.
SOCIAL EVENTS
The GPSC has its boating and non-boating members in mind when it comes to social events. Throughout the year, members enjoy many annual events, which include steak roasts, lobster dinners, the Commodore’s Ball, holiday-themed parties, family picnics, pub crawls, the regatta cocktail party, pancake breakfasts, and the children’s Christmas party.
RENDEZVOUS
Every year, the club coordinates several rendezvous where members can travel by sea or by car to enjoy a long weekend of fun events. These events range as far north as Lake Huron and as far south as Lake Erie and usually include fine dining, sports events, tours, and marina getaways.
RECIPROCITY
For 75 years the Grosse Pointe Sail Club has been known for the hospitality we provide members of other clubs. Each year our club is granted reciprocity at different clubs in the region where our members can visit by boat for a long weekend, or by car for dinner and drinks.
