Grosse Pointe Sail Club Annual Ladies Race. Friday, August 25, 2017. Detroit Regional Yacht-Racing Association Lake Saint Clair
The Annual GPSC Ladies Race is open to all seaworthy monohull sailing yachts. It is comprised of:
- One (1) Race on Friday, August 25, 2017. Warning signal scheduled for 1855 hours
The race starts and finishes off Windmill Pointe Marina, located in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan.
The Races will be governed by the Sailing Instructions (SI) and The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020(RRS), including US Sailing Prescriptions, except as amended by the Sailing Instructions. The Race Committee shall have the authority to establish the Racing Conditions and to interpret the Racing Rules.
All entrants MUST register for the GPSC Ladies Race. The 2017 Registration Form and a fee of $10 for boats owned by GPSC club members or $20 for boats owned by nonmembers (checks made payable to the Grosse Pointe Sail Club), must be received to compete in the Ladies Race. CLASSES and STARTS
The race includes a single Jib and Main (JAM) class with warning at 1855 and start scheduled for 1900. Starting Class flag shall be code pennant 1. The start can be postponed at the discretion of the Race Committee to accommodate weather conditions or Race Committee preparations.
Courses (Standard and Shortened) are set forth in the Ladies Race Sailing Instructions (S.I.). The standard course is 6.7 NM and the shortened course is 4.6 NM. Start and finish are off of the corner of Windmill Point Park Marina. The course extends roughly NE into Lake St. Clair.
Race results will be available on the DRYA web page (http://drya.org). Awards will be given for first, second and third place in each class at the GPSC Awards Party, held at the Tompkins Center at Windmill Pointe Park during the Annual GPSC Awards Party on Friday, November 3rd. Further details will be available in October via the GPSC website (https://www.gpsc.org).
AFTER THE RACE
The Grosse Pointe Sail Club cordially invites the skippers and crews of competing yachts, and their guests, to an informal gathering at Windmill Pointe Marina, Grosse Pointe Park after the regatta. There will be beverages, hot dogs, and snacks available starting at 2100 hours for a nominal charge. Limited mooring available, please hail Channel 68 with intent.
